Today would have been my late Grandfather, W. Howard Swanson's, 100th birthday. He lived in Gurnee, Illinois and was a great family man, wonderful attorney, former attorney for the Village of Gurnee, and was inducted into the Warren Township High School Hall of Fame on April 18, 2001 as a distinguished alumnus from the class of 1942.
Another one of his accomplishments, was having a nature area named after him posthumously called the Swanson-Trigg Conservation Area. He also shares the Area's moniker with Robert (Bob) Trigg, who was the very first village administrator for the Village of Gurnee.
The Conservation Area is located south of Grand Avenue in Gurnee between N. Greenleaf Street and First Street and contains a 1.4 mile loop.
I had not visited the Swanson-Trigg Conservation Area in decades and happened upon in and fell in love with the space.
There were so many gorgeous photo opportunities in the Conservation Area. I had a few friends join me for a nature themed photo session a while ago to help display the beauty of the forest trail, flowers and creeks... and to help keep my Grandpa's memory alive.
Below are some highlights from the session.
Big thanks to my models Amalia, Christina, Heather, Holly, Leah, Lexi, Natalie and Terry for spending time with me in this special space. You all are so beautiful and are amazing women in the community.
